Technical Project Manager

Technical Project Manager

At Mindbox we connect top IT talents with technology projects for leading enterprises across Europe.

We are looking for a Technical Project Manager to coordinate the Enterprise Operating System (EOS) transition programme, driving the migration of workloads from VMware vSphere to Red Hat OpenShift. This role will lead planning, coordination, and execution of a large-scale platform transformation across infrastructure, applications, and operations—working with global technical teams and senior stakeholders to ensure a smooth and controlled transition.

You’ll manage the full migration lifecycle — from discovery and readiness assessment through design, testing, cutover, operational acceptance, and decommissioning of legacy environments. Your success will depend on strong programme coordination, proactive risk management, and the ability to bring diverse engineering, security, and architecture teams together around common milestones and goals.

While this is not a hands-on engineering role, it does require sufficient technical understanding of VMware and OpenShift platforms to make informed decisions, challenge assumptions, and ensure dependencies are correctly managed.

Sounds like your kind of challenge?

What you'll be doing

  • Lead the delivery and coordination of the VMware to OpenShift migration programme, ensuring successful execution across multiple workstreams.
  • Develop and maintain the transition roadmap, milestone tracking, migration-wave planning, and decommissioning schedule.
  • Coordinate planning and delivery activities across infrastructure, platform, application, network, storage, architecture, and security teams.
  • Oversee migration readiness assessments including workload discovery, dependency mapping, application classification, and compatibility evaluation.
  • Support definition and execution of testing phases, including functional, integration, performance, resilience, and operational acceptance tests.
  • Coordinate change management activities to ensure migration steps are planned, reviewed, approved, and executed with minimal business disruption.
  • Manage operational handover, including knowledge transfer, documentation, service acceptance, and support model setup.
  • Maintain governance and reporting through status updates, steering committee materials, risk logs, and management dashboards.
  • Drive alignment with Service Management Standards, ensuring compliance with operational controls, security requirements, and IT governance.
  • Ensure resilience, sustainability, and performance objectives are achieved post-migration.
  • Identify and manage programme risks, dependencies, and issues, escalating appropriately when required.

Note: Detailed project information will be shared during the recruitment process.

What you get in return

  • Flexible cooperation model
  • Hybrid work setup – 6 x/month from the office
  • Collaborative team culture – work alongside experienced professionals eager to share knowledge
  • Continuous development – access to training platforms and growth opportunities
  • Comprehensive benefits – including Interpolska Health Care, Multisport card, Warta Insurance, and more
  • High quality equipment – laptop and essential software provided

Who we're looking for

  • Proven experience coordinating complex IT transformation or migration projects in large, enterprise-scale environments.
  • Direct experience managing migration of workloads from VMware vSphere to Red Hat OpenShift, including planning, testing, and operational readiness.
  • Strong technical understanding of:
    • VMware stack – vSphere, ESXi, vCenter, clusters, networking, and storage.
    • Red Hat OpenShift architecture – projects/namespaces, workloads, routes, storage, and security models.
  • Excellent understanding of migration planning methodologies – workload discovery, dependency mapping, readiness assessment, compatibility checks, and rollback planning.
  • Proven ability to coordinate across multiple teams and disciplines, including engineering, operations, and security.
  • Strong governance skills — experience with status reporting, steering committees, and milestone-based project control.
  • Proficiency in managing project artefacts such as RAID logs (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies), task trackers, and action registers.
  • Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and ServiceNow as collaboration and reporting tools.
  • Excellent stakeholder communication skills—able to translate complex technical topics into clear business decisions.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset, with structured, delivery-focused execution.
  • Fluent English (spoken and written).

Nice to have:

  • Experience working in regulated industries (e.g., banking, financial services).
  • German language skills (spoken) would be an advantage.
  • Prior work in DevOps or hybrid infrastructure environments is desirable.
